Mr Leonard- Asks the pride video people to wait behind at the end to arrange their first meeting

Today’s Items

Jack- Let’s do a fun outing for equalities group

Obai- Some what people say that black people can’t be LGBT. Why? Add to next week’s agenda

Review of incidents in April– three racist and one homophobic incident. Sexist incidents do not seem to be appearing this time. Possibly because it has been recently added.

How can we get teachers to take note of these incidents

Some racist and homophobic incidents are unseen by teachers

How can we help teachers to be more vigilant or to see more? Work positively with teachers more. Perhaps students are less likely to do it in front of teachers who they know are attached to the equalities group. Worth further discussion.

Jack- Lets invite people to the equalities group before pride

Mr Waugh

Ms Wilberforce
Pride update- Ms Schuil
We need to pay before we are allowed to register. Karen Powell has been asked to arrange this by Friday
Theme this year is #nofilter. We want to focus on being ourselves. Decided to make a group video to this effect that we could send in to the Pride people.
Encouraging other schools to do similar things would be great and a video is a nice way of doing this.

Actions- Obai(happy to help upload it to ) Christian (slide shows) Matt Leonard and Mathew.
All to meet in the next week once our place is confirmed.

Behaviour Policy Queries

KC recited and the group voted unanimously to confirm the sections of the policy which we wish to consult Mr Atherton over. Mr Atherton has agreed to meet Ms Critchley early next week. Highlighted in paper form but in summary group agree that the meeting is to discuss the removal of ambiguity around what is a minor and major offence and the fitting sanctions for this but also to query the difference between offences against staff and students. Remove/Amend the statement about phones but some of this falls into student council remit really. KC to pass on these sections to Student Council and JLT via Cath Wilberforce, Obai and Reiss Amoah.

Obai- Islamophobia is not on sims. Could we add religious predjudice/religion based bullying? KC will ask.
Henry- wishes for us discuss lines in hair too- potentially student council remit too. Obi will pass on.
